LookFirst is designed to let you inspect scanned content and make deliberate choices about external interactions.

Current development design

LookFirst does not require a user account and does not include advertising or analytics in the current development version. This policy describes intended behavior and must be checked against the final release build before publication.

Camera and selected photos

Camera access is used for live code scanning. Photo selection allows you to choose images for code detection. The intended design processes these inputs on the device; the final release must be verified for any storage, transmission, or third-party processing.

Scan history

LookFirst provides local scan history with configurable retention. Review the app's history settings to manage stored scans. Exact retention defaults, backup behavior, and deletion implementation require final release verification.

Links and third-party services

LookFirst displays decoded destinations and requests confirmation before opening web links. If you choose to open a website, that destination and the software handling the request may process information under their own policies.

Optional VirusTotal and urlscan.io checks may transmit a URL, hostname, or related information to an external service, depending on the action and implementation. Do not submit sensitive links, such as password-reset URLs, without understanding that risk. The exact payload and transmission path must be verified before release.

Copying and sharing

If you copy or share decoded content, the destination app, clipboard, or recipient may retain it. Those actions are separate from LookFirst's local scan-history functionality.

This website

This website includes no advertising or analytics scripts and does not intentionally set tracking cookies. Hosting infrastructure may process standard connection information, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.
